What We Do

GEMS transforms energy use in rural Indian households by addressing the gaps in broad policies that often overlook the realities of village life. At its core, GEMS understands that meaningful change arises from engaging with the social dynamics at both the village and household levels. Recognizing that technology alone is insufficient, the project harnesses social capital to drive resource mobilization, time investment, and lasting behavioral change.

GEMS and its impact in rural villages: captured in

“The Echoes of the Planet”

This is a story is about the disconnect of the global agenda of the reducing carbon emissions and the real life of real people in rural India. GEMS is bridging the gap between these two by translating the global agenda to grassroots action in the form of vilageese (the language of the villagers). As the founder and project leader at GEMS (Grassroots Energy Management Support) we are helping communities move towards cleaner air and better life.
